Riverfront Marketing Group to Present Stunning
26th Annual Dueling Barges Fireworks Show!

With the support of thirty-three businesses and community organizations, the Riverfront Marketing Group proudly invites you to come down to the historic New Orleans Riverfront on Monday, July 4, to celebrate Independence Day with the FREE 26th annual Go 4th on the River Dueling Barges Fireworks Show at 9:00 p.m. over the Mississippi River. This year's celebration is presented by Versabar Inc., Zito Companies, The Westin New Orleans Canal Place, New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation, Budweiser, The Berger Company, Camellia Beans, New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau, TT Coatings, and Valero Energy Foundation, and by media sponsors Experience New Orleans!, Magic 101.9, WWL AM/FM/.com, WWL-TV Channel 4, and Inside New Orleans, plus eighteen other community sponsors.

New Orleans' Dueling Barges Fireworks Show has been recognized as one of the "TOP Five Must-See" fireworks displays in America by the American Pyrotechnics Association. The free fireworks display can be seen from the East and West Banks of the Mississippi River from the Outlet Collection at Riverwalk to Crescent Park at French Market.

Watch for new and unique fireworks in this year's Dueling Barges display-Purple Rain (Falling Leaves), Sunflowers, Cube Pattern, Horse Tails, Waterfalls, Meteor Shower, and Lemon Strobe! Many of these shells take several seconds to form up in the air but create a gorgeous, slow-moving cascade that creates a beautiful reflection on the surface of the Mighty Mississippi River. The display has also been designed with dozens of Rising Tail Shells that allow the audience to follow their ascent as they reach their zenith hundreds of feet up in the air, then burst into a huge floral pattern. There will be many unique photo opportunities for both the professional camera folks and the everyday cell phone photographers! Watch the fireworks live at WWL.com.

The Port of New Orleans will bring out the General Roy S. Kelley fireboat again this year with its famed water show with plumes of red, white, and blue fountains beginning at 6:00 p.m. and leading up to the 9:00 p.m. fireworks show. The Gen. Kelley was used by the Port of New Orleans to fight fires, give tours, and conduct search-and-rescue missions on the Mississippi River. Built in 1994, the Gen. Kelley is 95 feet long and 16 feet wide with a 7-foot draft. It seats twenty-four and typically has a crew of three.

This year the Riverfront Marketing Group is partnering with the LA/SPCA and VetsAdoptPets.org to promote free adoptions for all active and retired military. Pre-approval is required from VetsAdoptPets.org. Visit www.la-spca.org/vets for more information.

Go 4th to Crescent Park at the French Market for the Dueling Barges Fireworks Show to learn how to photograph fireworks in the Zack Smith Fireworks Workshop. "Go 4th on the River is a major and cherished celebration, and we are thrilled to put it together for the city, tourists, and locals," says RMG treasurer Adrienne Thomas. "Producing the Fourth of July Riverfront fireworks takes the support and dedication of so many businesses in the community and we are grateful for their support."
