NEW ORLEANS - For the past 5 years the COPS 2/Magazine Street Blues Festival, sponsored by and benefitting COPS 2, has been held at the intersection of Magazine Street and Napoleon Avenue next to the 2nd District Station House. Due to underground construction on Napoleon which will affect the festival, organizers have decided to move it to Palmer Park at the intersection of S. Claiborne and S. Carrollton Avenues. Along with changing the location, the name is being slightly altered to The 2nd District Blues Festival. The date of this year's festival is Saturday, November 22nd, 11 am - 7 pm.

Just as in the past, festival-goers can enjoy New Orleans cuisine from favorite local street food vendors, restaurants and caterers. Additionally, there will be an artist's village featuring talented local artists displaying and selling their original pieces and art works. Children of all ages are welcome to enjoy the wonderful playground at the Park. A new addition this year is a "Doggie Park" obstacle course provided by the SPCA and other rescue organizations.

This year's musical line up is Walter Wolfman Washington and Joe Krown; Big Sam's Funky Nation; Mia Borders; and Stooges Brass Band; plus performances by the Pussy Footers.

COPS 2, a non-profit organization benefitting officers primarily of the 2nd District, is also seeking sponsorship to help make the festival a financial success. You can contact the festival manager, Shelley Pigeon, should you have a desire to help out in any way.

The 2nd District is demographically unique to our city and we want everyone to be a part of our success and helps bring the citizens and the officers that are dedicated to serving and protecting them together in a fun, family environment.

COPS 2 is a 501(c)(3) Organization
