NEW ORLEANS (April 20, 2015) - Spring is here, which means home building and remodeling season is upon us. The annual Parade of Homes, presented by the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans (HBAGNO), is the region's best opportunity to tour new homes and see the latest in home construction and design. This free event takes place at newly built residences across four parishes (Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines and St. Charles).

The majority of homes on this year's Parade are once again in Lakeview, where seven of the Parade's 17 homes are located, including the 2015 St. Jude Dream Home®. The Parade also features homes in popular communities such as The Parks of Plaquemines in Belle Chasse, the Gulf Outlet Marina in Chalmette, the Gabriel Subdivision in Kenner, Labarre Plantation in Old Jefferson, Pelican Bay in Marrero, McDonoughville in Old Gretna, and Oak Park in Gentilly. These planned subdivisions have remained popular with families looking to build their very own dream home.

"The local housing market is continuing to strengthen, which is great news for potential homebuyers," said Jon Luther, Executive Vice President of the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans. "While the Lakeview neighborhood continues to thrive, we're also starting to see increased development in neighborhoods in Kenner, Chalmette, Old Jefferson, and the Westbank. With the influx of young tech entrepreneurs and many new restaurant and retail businesses opening, many areas are experiencing a boom in residents who are choosing to remodel homes or build new on formerly blighted lots. The Parade will show people the outstanding work being done by our local builders."

In addition to seeing beautiful, new energy efficient homes featuring the latest design trends, including affordable home automation, open floor plans, and specialized storage, visitors can get expert advice from the area's trusted builders.

Included in the Parade of Homes is the St. Jude Dream Home®, a three-bedroom, three-bath house located at 6919 West End Blvd. in Lakeview, which is being raffled off to support St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Valued at approximately $650,000, tickets for the raffle can be purchased for only $100 and are available by calling (800)-327-2559 or online at www.stjude.org/dhneworleans.

As part of its commitment to the communities it serves, the 2015 Parade of Homes will be making a donation to Camp Challenge, a grass roots non-profit organization dedicated to giving ill children and their siblings, ages 6 to 18, who reside in Louisiana and have a form of cancer or chronic hematological disorder, a free summer camp experience.

A full list of the homes and locations can be found at www.hbagno.org. Sponsors of the 2015 Parade of Homes include: Fidelity Bank and New Orleans Homes & Lifestyles Magazine.
