The Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter delivers the authentic New Orleans experience – a slice of life stay in the Big Easy that embraces the city’s rich, unique history and joie de vivre. The Hotel Monteleone is more than a French Quarter hotel; it is one of the most beloved landmarks in New Orleans.
Established in 1886 by a Sicilian nobleman Antonio Monteleone, the "Grande Dame of the French Quarter" is a member of the Historic Hotels of America, as designated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Hotel Monteleone is a character herself – the classic French Quarter hotel has been immortalized in several works of fiction and served as a playground for famous authors including Ernest Hemingway, Eudora Welty, William Faulkner and Tennessee Williams; the hotel is one of only a handful to be designated a "Literary Landmark" by the Friends of Libraries USA.
The Monteleone is also home to one of the most famous bars in the city: the Carousel Bar, a unique carousel-motif bar with 25 seats that slowly rotate at a rate of about one rotation every 15 minutes. Newly renovated and expanded, the Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone is a destination for cocktail aficionados (the hotel also hosts the annual Tales of the Cocktail festival) and a common after-work hangout for locals.
Walk into this Beaux Arts lobby and you'll be greeted by glittering chandeliers, polished marble floors and a revered grandfather clock that still chimes the hour. The Hotel Monteleone's charm extends in other directions too. A newly renovated rooftop pool overlooks downtown New Orleans, a 24-hour rooftop fitness room offers views of the Mississippi River and French Quarter, and the relaxing full-service day Spa Aria pampers with Pevonia products. [Travelers note: Criollo, a new Creole fusion restaurant, is slated to open in the Hotel Monteleone in 2012.]
Inside the Hotel Monteleone's 600 guest rooms and 55 suites, you'll find flat-screen HD televisions, high-speed internet access, two telephones and an in-room safe. The Hotel Monteleone is also pet-friendly, providing bowls and treats for furry traveling companions. The Hotel Monteleone offers amenities for business travelers, including a full-service business center, 24,000 square feet of meeting space and 23 meeting rooms and 6,200 square foot ballroom, one of the largest in the French Quarter.
