The City of New Orleans was awarded a $433.8K grant in 2023 from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) to advance equitable access to parks throughout the city. This funding will support:

  • the development of a comprehensive citywide Parks and Recreation Master Plan
  • a strategic initiative aimed at creating a more inclusive, resilient, and accessible park system for all
  • a foundation for building sustainable recreational spaces that foster community connection and improve the quality of life for New Orleanians and visitors alike

The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) executes its mission to advance the physical, mental, and social well-being of New Orleanians by providing safe and welcoming environments for recreational, athletic, and cultural experiences both residents and all who visit can enjoy.
