Parks & Recreation
The City of New Orleans was awarded a $433.8K grant in 2023 from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) to advance equitable access to parks throughout the city. This funding will support:
- the development of a comprehensive citywide Parks and Recreation Master Plan
- a strategic initiative aimed at creating a more inclusive, resilient, and accessible park system for all
- a foundation for building sustainable recreational spaces that foster community connection and improve the quality of life for New Orleanians and visitors alike
The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) executes its mission to advance the physical, mental, and social well-being of New Orleanians by providing safe and welcoming environments for recreational, athletic, and cultural experiences both residents and all who visit can enjoy.

Pickleball remains the fastest-growing sport in America. The 2nd NOLA Pickle Fest benefiting the Brees Dream Foundation took place in August of 2024 and the 3rd annual NOLA Pickle Fest is scheduled for August 6-10, 2025, at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
