Bayou Boogaloo

Every May on Bayou St. John

ABOUT:

Every year in late May, there’s a party on the bayou when Bayou Boogaloo comes to the shore of Bayou St. John in Mid-City.

Attendees can expect to enjoy music, a variety of food and drink, as well as arts and crafts.

What makes this weekend special is the location on the banks of Bayou St. John. People fill the bayou and enjoy the music from boats, kayaks and inflatable water crafts.

Fest-goers can leisurely stroll about, grab some great New Orleans food and a cold drink, and go sit by the waterside and enjoy the scene, taking in the music of some of the city's top bands at two stages.

Bayou St. John is located off the beaten path, a few miles from the French Quarter. Boaters used to utilize the thoroughfare to get within a mile of the business section of town, taking public transportation for the final stretch. Today, the bayou does not connect to the lake, but is a great place for small boats, kayaks, and canoes to enjoy. And, of course, it’s the perfect place for a celebration.
