New Orleans Community Games | FAQs
Find answers to the most frequently asked questions below.
Where are the Community Games?
The Community Games competitions will take place throughout New Orleans City Park, on November 13th. Tad Gormley Stadium will be the epicenter for activities, Athletes Village, Corporate Village, Registration, Opening Ceremonies, Closing Ceremonies, Team Building events, and the NOLA WELLNXT Health and Wellness Festival.
Is there a non-profit rate for registration.
Sort of, yes! While there is no advertised discount for non-profits, there is an opportunity for non-profit organizations looking to register their employees, members, or volunteers to compete under their banner. Non-profits who wish to have a corporate sponsor underwrite their participation may do so as a fundraising activity. For example, The NOLA Law Firm could certainly sponsor a group of first responders, volunteer group, or other membership organization, with a portion of the registration fees benefitting the organization. Please contact CommunityGames@NOLAFitFete.com for more information.
I have products, goods, or services that I would like to provide for the Community Games, New Orleans Marathon, or NOLA WELLNXT Festival. Can I become a service provider?
A number of local goods and services are needed to produce Fit Fete weekend. New Orleans & Company members receive RFPs for these items as they are identified. Any items that cannot be procured by one of our members will be solicited through an external RFP process, and posted on the NOLAFitFete.com website.
How do I become an exhibitor or vendor at the event?
Companies wishing to sample or sell goods at any of the Fit Fete weekend events are encouraged to contact the Fit Fete team by filling out the form here.
Can Individuals register to compete?
Currently, there is no individual registration available. The minimum team size to compete in the Community Games on Friday, November 13th, is a team size of 4.
Some sports, like Kickball, require a team size larger than 4, so 4 friends or family members registering n the Games as a Team may be limited to those sports with smaller team sizes.
When registering, what is the difference between Team Size and Number of Employees, and why are they not the same?
The number of employees a company has, or the number of members an organization has, is important for determining which Division to compete in for the Community Games. Every employee or member can earn points for their company or organization by completing ongoing challenges or participating in other local events in the community. Every employee or member can also attend the Community Games and other activities on November 13th, but the official number of athletes competing in the Games, (Team Size), is proportional to the company size. It's only fair.
My company has 1000 employees, but we only want to field a team of 10 for the Community Games. Can we register as a small or medium sized company instead?
Unfortunately, that is frowned upon. Since larger employers have a potentially deeper roster of athletes, and because the point earning challenges are available to all employees, team rosters for the Community Games are determined by the total number of employees participating throughout the year.
If I register today, can my company still get points for an event that already occurred?
Absolutely. Participation points can be awarded retroactively for approved Fit Fete events.
When are team rosters set for the Community Games?
Individual sports registrations will open up at various times over the Summer. Once registration for a sport opens up, participating companies can assign teams to compete in that sport, and have until November 1st to do so. Employers may opt to wait closer to the Games to allow for staffing changes or to create internal competitions or incentives within your organization. How and when your team roster is determined is up to you, Boss.
Can all employees attend the Games to support our team, and what other things can they do?
Absolutely. All participating companies are encouraged to make it an office field day! In addition to serving as cheerleaders or coaches for the team and enjoying all that City Park has to offer, Friday's activities will include an opening ceremonies, closing ceremonies, free NOLA WELLNXT Health and Wellness Festival, skills challenges, speakers and demonstrations, sponsor activation and free play areas.
What is the deal with Food and Beverage for Athletes competing in the Games?
The Opening Ceremonies will feature a continental breakfast to start the day. Organized sports will certainly keep you hydrated with snacks available. And the NOLA WELLNXT Festival will have plenty of sampling and concessions available. If you are looking to provide meals for your employees, catering options will be available as well.
What else comes with registration?
In addition to securing a spot on the leaderboard, every team member participating in the Community Games will receive official apparel, gift bags, medals and eligible to take home trophies in each division and sport.
Can I pop up a tent, tailgate, and grill for my employees?
If you are allowed to do it on any given day at City Park, you can certainly follow their rules and enjoy the day however you see fit. If you would like to join the Athletes Village and have a secure and official area for your employees with catering options, we can accommodate that too. Tent space within and around Tad Gormley Stadium will be first come first serve, and must be reserved. Contact CommunityGames@nolafitfete.com for specifics on creating your space at the official Athletes Village.
