New Orleans Places of Worship

Worship at one of the New Orleans' many churches and religious buildings

New Orleans is full of one uplifting experience after another – and that includes religious experiences. Our streets are lined with places of worship both historic and new. All welcome visitors with open arms.

You'll find a deep history within the walls of these buildings, such as St. Augustine Catholic Church – the oldest African-American Parish in the country. Come sit where slaves and free people of color worshipped before the Civil War. Or Touro Synagogue on St. Charles Avenue,  which was the first Jewish temple outside of the 13 original colonies, and the sixth oldest in the country. And, of course, St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square, which is the oldest cathedral in the United States (and we think the most spectacular).

Before brunch at one of our world-famous restaurants, make plans to visit one of the following places of worship.
