We’re turning 300!

That’s right! 2018 marks New Orleans’ Tricentennial, AKA, the city’s 300th birthday! While there will be celebrations all year long, New Year’s Eve will be an unforgettable kickoff to 2018.

There’s a countdown to midnight… known as Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

Head to Jackson Square and join the excitement as Ryan Seacrest leads the Central Time Zone countdown to midnight. The festive celebration will feature live music performances, celebrity appearances, and much more. Expect this countdown to be bigger and better than ever, as New Orleans counts down to its Tricentennial. This event is free & open to the public!

You can take part in one of the greatest college football traditions – the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

When the Sugar Bowl comes to town, visiting and local sports fans rejoice. As per tradition, this year’s Allstate Sugar Bowl will host the SEC champion and another highly ranked opponent. Join in on New Year’s Eve parades and team pep rallies, and then see the game live on New Year’s Day. Find ticket information here.

Family friendly events happen all over the city – and won’t keep the kids up until midnight.

Little ones will love Zoo Year’s Eve at the famed Audubon Zoo, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be music, fun games, lots of prizes, and a countdown until noon at the zoo! Your family can also check out the Louisiana Children’s Museum’s New Year’s Eve Countdown downtown from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The museum will be filled with interactive exhibits, arts & crafts, music, and a countdown. Find official Zoo Year’s Eve info here and Louisiana Children’s Musem info here.

Or, music lovers can combine the best of what NOLA has to offer with one event – Galactic at Tipitina’s.

If New Orleans is known for two things, they’d be food and music. Get the best of both at this legendary music hall, Tipitina’s. Galactic, a locally founded (and nationally famous) funk and jazz jam band will be performing, and VIP ticketholders will have catered Jacques-imo’s food to enjoy. Tickets and more information here.

For a more glamorous, champagne-filled beginning to 2018, get your tickets to Big Night New Orleans Gala.

Grab your best dress or tux and head to the Hyatt Regency in the heart of downtown. This gala will feature over 9 different areas to dance in – with different DJ’s, music, and atmospheres. Add in food, open bars, and a countdown to midnight, and you’ve got the recipe for an unforgettable (and decadent) New Year. Tickets and details available here.

You can even hop aboard the iconic Steamboat NATCHEZ to ride into 2018.

See the skyline lit up at night (by the city lights & the New Year’s fireworks) as you cruise down the Mighty Mississippi. When you board the boat, you’ll find delicious holiday food, an open bar, and a live dance band until 12:30 a.m. Tickets and more info about this special event can be found here.

Gain bragging rights after seeing the Grammy-award winning Rebirth Brass Band in their hometown.

When in NOLA, it’s a necessity to see a live brass band. We’ll do you one better – you can see a Grammy-award winning group, on New Year’s Eve right in the Warehouse District. From 10 p.m. until 2 a.m., dance to Rebirth and take advantage of the open bar at the Howlin’ Wolf. Tickets can be found on Howlin’ Wolf’s official website here.

There’s enough delicious food and drink to last you all the way through 2018.

If the parties, the music, the family-friendly celebrations, the fireworks, AND the Ttricentennial kickoff weren’t enough to get you here to New Orleans, do it for the food. No one leaves New Orleans without having their new favorite dish, whether it’s classic Creole fare or a fully-dressed po-boy. Find a restaurant to dine in here.

And with discounted hotel rates like these, there’s really no reason not to be in NOLA for New Year’s.

To top it all off, tons of hotels around the city participate in the annual Papa Noel program throughout the holiday season. This means discounts allllll throughout the New Year. So whether you’re looking for a cozy, romantic B&B getaway for New Year’s Eve in a tucked away Marigny cottage or a trendy hotel in the Central Business District, there’s a rate for you to book here.

Or, visit all year long – it’s the Tricentennial! That means festivities, celebrations, and more throughout 2018. Find accommodations and book here.
