Under the Live Oaks at City Park thousands gather to worship the music at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience every year over Halloween weekend. Like many New Orleans festivals, Voodoo started out small and exploded into a mega-event spanning several days and drawing big names and even bigger numbers.
Headliners have included Pearl Jam, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Ozzy Osborne, KISS and more. Over its first 15 years, Voodoo has drawn more than a million people, along with some of the top acts on the contemporary popular music scene as well as giving the stage to up-and-coming New Orleans musicians.
There are four distinct performance areas, each of which is enhanced by the use of interactive art. There are also art displays on the grounds, carnival rides, Tarot card readings, and other demonstrations and activities.
Voodoo also features a wide variety of food dishes, many of which can only be found in New Orleans and south Louisiana. Artwork and local crafts are also on hand for display and sale.
There are many ticket and parking options for sale from single day to three-day general admission and VIP tickets. Shuttle passes are available for those who are interested in booking transportation to and from the festival grounds from Downtown.
To purchase a parking pass, shuttle service or locker access, go to www.voodoofestival.com. The North Carrollton Branch of the Canal Streetcar Line takes riders from downtown to the main gates of City Park. City buses also run along Esplanade Avenue that will bring riders close to City Park.
