
The Krewe of Lafcadio pays homage to Lafcadio Hearn, a renowned 19th-century chronicler of Crescent City customs and the author of the first Creole cookbook. Each year, the Krewe of Lafcadio crowns a celebrated chef as its king, celebrating the culinary excellence and tradition that New Orleans is famous for. This tradition of honoring chefs as royalty underscores the significance of food and its cultural importance in the city's identity.
The parade starts at Antoine's Restaurant on 713 St. Louis Street, goes right on Bourbon Street, right on Toulouse Street, left on Decatur Street, left on Barracks Street, left on Royal Street for several blocks, right on Bienville Street, right on Bourbon Street, and ends by turning left onto St. Louis Street where it disbands.
