Founded in 1972, the Krewe of Jefferson is the last truck parade in Jefferson Parish.
Krewe Of Jefferson was founded by former captain of the Krewe Of Jason wanted to bring Mardi Gras to Jefferson Parish. With a long-time friend, a former captain of the Krewe Of Elks Orleanians Truck parade, they organized the first Jefferson Mardi Gras. The first parade in March of 1973 consisted of twelve truck floats down Veterans Highway in Metairie.
Following right behind the Krewe of Elks-Jeffersonians on Mardi Gras Day, it signals the offical "beginning of the end" of Carnival in Jefferson Parish. Comprised of 3500 male and female riders, this parade features 75 trucks and its own unique throws from the krewe.
