Open House Self-Guided Tour:  Homes & Courtyards/Gardens

“Bienvenue, À Notre Fête des Portes Ouvertes dans le Vieux Carré de Nouvelle Orléans’’

French Quarter

Welcome to our Open-Door Tour in the French Quarter and the Uptown area of New Orleans. The French Quarter is in the heart of the old city. The Vieux Carré comes alive when you step into the homes and courtyards where legendary New Orleanians resided in the 18th and 19th century.  On this tour docents are at each home to tell you about the homes history and special stories. You may meet prominent citizens of history:  heroes, villains, vampires, and voodoo queens.

We provide you with a map with the homes marked so that you can walk from home to home at your own pace. These homes are private homes not usually open to the public. You will see rooms on the inside of these homes.  Each tour includes different residences within walking distance of one another.

This year we are also featuring homes in the Uptown area of New Orleans.  Most of these homes are Victorian era revival styles: Greek, Colonial, Italianate, and Queen Anne. These homes include beautiful interiors with marble fireplaces, grand parlors, and stately dining rooms. Outside you will find quaint gardens with flowers that bloom twelve months of the year.
