The fourth annual Christkindl Markt (German Christmas Market) will be outdoors for three days Friday, December 2 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, December 3 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, December 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Deutsches Haus located at 1700 Moss Street, New Orleans. In the tradition of German seasonal markets, there will be open-air illuminated booths for Christmas shopping, accompanied by live German music, food, and drink.
Over 80 vendors will be selling German Christmas ornaments, steins, handmade artwork, nativity figures, wood and marble items, sweets, herbs, spices, oils, vinegar, and more. The Festus Carolers will walk the vendor areas singing, with more holiday sounds provided by the St. John’s Handbell Choir, The Highway Band from St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, and Bier Musikanten.
There are visits from St. Nicholas and the Weihnachtsengel (Christmas Angel or Fairy), and pictures can be taken with both. The event is free and open to the public.
