The coronavirus pandemic has affected every industry, including local farmers and fishermen who typically rely on restaurant and farmers markets to make up the bulk of their sales. While many of us are in the process of becoming delicious home cooks, local farms are making it easier than ever to cook fresh, healthy meals. Below is a roundup of produce boxes that can be found locally in New Orleans, all with seasonal fruit and vegetables for a low cost, while also adhering to social distancing requirements.

Crescent City Farmers Market

Crescent City Farmers Market, which typically operates six farmers markets throughout the week in different parts of the city, has gone virtual. Order directly from vendors online for pickup on Sundays at the drive-thru farmer's market, located at Parkway Bakery & Tavern.

The Market has also partnered with Top Box Foods to create boxes full of CCFM vendor products for home delivery on Tuesdays and Fridays, available through Top Box Foods for $40. The contents of the box vary by week, but one recent offering included carrots, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, lettuce, mushrooms, onions, and freshly baked bread. You can also support your favorite CCFM vendor directly here. Items available include fresh cut flowers from Abundance Flower Farm, award-winning pies from Blue Ribbon Pies, gelato from Country Girls Creamery, dog treats from Lana’s Sweets for All Occasions, and so much more.
