Statement about Tropical Storm Karen

Tropical Storm Karen has weakened significantly overnight and is a very disorganized system. The New Orleans area is expecting one to two inches of rain between now and Sunday morning. Most rain and wind (30 mph) will occur between midnight and 9 a.m.
 
It is business a usual for visitors to the city. Art for Art's Sake is proceeding as scheduled for this evening. Gretna Fest also is proceeding as scheduled. Art Home New Orleans tours are proceeding today and tomorrow in the Warehouse District and CBD as planned. Major attractions are open with the exception of the Steamboat Natchez Saturday dinner cruise and Sunday lunch cruise. 

There are no expected disruptions to air service at the Louis Armstrong International Airport or Regional Transit Authority streetcar and bus service.
Mayor Landrieu has issued a precautionary State of Emergency for the city of New Orleans in order to provide maximum flexibility and resources for any situation that arises.
 
The New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau continues to monitor Tropical Storm Karen in the Gulf of Mexico, and remain in constant communication with Mayor's Landrieu's office and local officials.
