The team behind Barracuda, the neighborhood taco stand and margarita garden, are excited to announce their second location in Historic Algiers Point. Inspired by personal experiences at taquerias throughout Mexico and the American Southwest, Barracuda will bring fresh takes on classic Mexican staples to the Westbank in early 2021.

The Algiers Point location of Barracuda will continue to offer their current menu staples complemented by handmade Sonoran-style, thin flour, and fresh-pressed corn tortillas. Barracuda’s signature tacos balance high-quality, whole ingredients with satisfying comfort foods such as their standout Deluxe Carne Asada Taco filled with grilled steak, onion, cilantro, griddled cheese, beans, and guacamole.

The menu also features fresh, craveable vegetarian and vegan options featuring seasonal vegetables and a rotating seasonal vegetarian Farmer Taco; seafood from nearby waters, including the Crispy Fish Taco, made with local catfish, homemade crema, shredded cabbage, onion, cilantro, pomegranate, and topped with their signature salsa macha, and more. Barracuda’s homemade salsas will also be available in larger formats to take home with flavors such as roasted salsa roja, creamy salsa verde, salsa macha, and an arbol-habanero hot sauce.

“We are excited to bring a new neighborhood taco stand to Algiers Point to serve our Westbank friends and family,” says Barracuda Founder Brett Jones. “When we saw that the old Gulf building was available it gave our team a lot of the same feelings as our original location on Tchoupitoulas. The space had everything we wanted in a location—accessibility for our neighbors and friends taking the Algiers Ferry, rich history, and a vibe we couldn’t create just through design.”

The accessible menu has something delicious for everyone, including chips and dips, a variety of tacos that can also be made into bowls, quesadillas, and more. The menu is rounded out with daily margaritas on tap made with 100% agave, fresh-squeezed lime juice, and Lunazul Blanco Tequila; classic offerings of aguas frescas, including horchata and limeade; Mexican and craft beer, and wine.

Barracuda’s Algiers Point location will offer a familiar experience to the original beloved taco stand with walk-up service and abundant covered outdoor seating. Guests can enjoy their meals in the 50-seat margarita garden that once was a historic neighborhood landmark but is now restored and refreshed with Barracuda touches such as cactus garden, soft lighting to illuminate the space, custom millwork from GoodWood Nola and Kaliméra Group, and hand-painted signage from creative studio Smallchalk.

Most recently, Barracuda launched a plethora of to-go options that are available to order online, including Taco Family Meals that feed 4-15 people and include a choice of meat or vegetarian options, one dozen flour tortillas, and sides. In addition, the taco stand has launched Party Packs as a takeout option, including a Breakfast Taco Pack, and the DIY Taco Party Pack—perfect for feeding socially distanced gatherings of ten or more. Barracuda also offers a DIY - Build Your Own Meal option for larger groups, featuring DIY Taco Parties & Deluxe Nachos.

Barracuda has taken into consideration COVID safety protocols and is implementing a socially distanced outdoor patio dining experience for guests with roll-down, transparent curtain barriers and additional covered space giving the feel of a cozy, open-air greenhouse space. Additional COVID guidelines in place include no cash payments and wearing a mask when guests are not eating or drinking. The original location at 3984 Tchoupitoulas Street is currently open for outdoor dining, curbside drop-off, window pick-up, and delivery.

The second location of Barracuda will be located at 446 Pelican Avenue. For more information, please visit www.eatbarracuda.com or follow on social media @EatBarracuda.
