Activity Description

Cast yourself into the Witches Brew Tour, a soul-searching, 4-tours-in-1, moonlight trek through the French Quarter. Your tour guide arrives fully costumed and versed in the history and lore of New Orleans' famous paranormal lineage and offers beaucoup glimpses into local occult practices.

The Witches Brew tour is the only tour in New Orleans to cover all facets of the city's haunted, spellbinding history – including ghosts, voodoo, vampires and witches. On this truly original, spirited nighttime walk, you'll travel from the steps of the courthouse in the French Quarter to famous haunted sites connected to New Orleans ghosts, voodoo, vampires and witches, including the LaLaurie Mansion, Pirates Alley and iconic St. Louis Cathedral. The tour typically winds up at Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop, one of NOLA's most beloved pirate haunts and the oldest known building to be used as a bar in the United States.

A few highlights you may experience on the Witches Brew Tour: • One of the French Quarter's most notorious ghosts makes an appearance at a famous restaurant where a table is set nightly for him. Bring your camera and you may catch him dining, or capture the mysterious orbs that appear in pictures taken of a certain French Quarter balcony. • Where did the first openly practicing witch in the city of New Orleans teach and practice? Find out, and hear how Mary Oneida Toups, widely recognized as the most powerful witch in New Orleans in the 20th century, crafted a name for herself in the Big Easy. • Hear the life story of Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau, whose legacy has endured for generations, and how to find her not-so-secret resting place. (Performing a personal ceremony at her grave may just change your life!) • Stand on the doorstep of Jacques St. Germain, New Orleans' own Count Dracula story. Your guide spills St. Germain's immortal saga, written in sanguine whispers on the brickwork corner of Royal and Ursuline.
