Experience the Honey Island Swamp like no other. Owned and operated by New Orleans natives, Cajun Encounters scouts out the best experts in the field to give you an authentic, safe, personal, hands on tour of the swamp.
South Louisiana’s Honey Island Swamp is one of the most pristine swampland habitats in the United States. See this natural wonder up-close on a meandering two-hour boat ride lead by experienced native field guides (and local characters, to boot) inside 24-passenger custom flat-bottom boats. The tour offers a front row seat to the backwater estuaries and protected wildlife habitat of a rare and disappearing natural phenomenon. You’ll visit a Cajun village (reachable only by boat), and have a chance to see Louisiana wildlife, including alligators, wild boars, nutria, turtles, bald eagles, owls, egrets and more. Winter visitors’ note: swamp critters tend to hibernate in cold weather and you may not see as much swamp life as in warmer months.
