METAIRIE - A night after the New Orleans Zephyrs eliminated them from playoff contention, the Nashville Sounds took out their frustration on Z's pitching, hitting four home runs to beat the Zephyrs 9-1 on Sunday.

Corey Hart, on a rehab assignment from the Milwaukee Brewers, hit a two-run shot off Chris Volstad in the first inning to start the onslaught. Volstad was making his Zephyrs debut after starting 27 games for the Marlins this season.

Brendan Katin hit the first of his two home runs off Volstad in the second inning, and added another in the fifth when the Sounds scored five times to break the game open.

Jon Knott hit a solo shot in the ninth off Jay Buente to finish Nashville's scoring.

The Zephyrs managed little offense, collecting just six hits, and did not score until an RBI groundout by Emilio Ontiveros in the ninth.

Lindsay Gulin (7-10) yielded four hits over six scoreless innings to pick up the win, and Robert Hinton pitched the final three frames to earn his first save.

Volstad (0-1) took the loss despite striking out seven in four innings. Volstad was the 20th different starting pitcher used by the Zephyrs this season, tying the franchise record set in 2005.

The Zephyrs play their 2009 season finale on Monday, with LH John Koronka facing Mike Burns. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
