Greenville, N.C. - The Tulane Green Wave rallied from a 12-point second half deficit to tie the game at 61-61 on a three-pointer from junior Asim McQueen with 2:19 remaining, but East Carolina hit eight straight free throws to come away with a 69-66 victory in the Conference USA opener for both teams in front of 4,928 at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
For Michael Aubrey, 2008 was a break-through year. He earned a promotion to the majors, being called up by Cleveland on May 16. He made his major league debut on May 17. If he plays for the Cleveland organization in 2009, it figures to be in the minors.
The Indians have designed Aubrey for assignment, removing him from their 40-man roster to make room for veteran pitcher Carl Pavano, whom they signed earlier this week.
