With all this water around and a regional cuisine based almost solely on seafood, you better believe that fishing is a way of life in New Orleans! We have shrimp, crawfish, oysters, redfish, trout, catfish and then some, and there are plenty of friendly locals who would love to take you out for a day or two and show you the secret hotspots that are all over the state. We have boat launches, fish education and a fishing charter that uses a bow and arrow instead of hook, line and sinker...all at the click of a button.

There is a rich history of trapping here in Louisiana, beginning with bayou settlers looking for ways to warm their families in the chilly winter months. If you want to join in a tradition that has been around since the 1700s, we have 14 different furbearers in the state, and the season runs annually from Nov. 20 through March 31.
