Head out to West End or the Lakefront on any given Wednesday evening, and it would be difficult not to notice the nearly 30 sailboats of all stripes milling around a few hundred feet from the seawall. Onboard these boats, the crews are readying their sails, lines and gear before they strike east along Lakeshore Dr. and match skills and wits against the crews of the other boats as the sun sets behind them.
New Orleans Yacht Club's Wednesday Night Racing season got underway in March and this laid-back sailing community launches onto the lake on Wednesday nights and nearly every weekend to compete against each other.
