Fishing Editor - NewOrleans.com Sports
Frank Lodato is a recreational fisherman born and raised in New Orleans, LA. A local product of Brother Martin High School, Frank served 10 years active duty in the U.S. Navy.
In 2002, he earned a BS in Electronic Systems Technologies from Southern Illinois University. Today, Frank is the owner, webmaster, and editor of www.Yatfish.com, a website that provides links to real-time, observational, weather data in the Lake Pontchartrain area.
Frank spends his time as a Network Engineer for the National Data Buoy Center when he's not fishing or performing his duties as NewOrleans.com Fishing Editor.
Since Hurricane Katrina forced his family to Covington, LA, he has began to learn the intricacies of fishing the Causeway, Rigolets, Bayou Lacombe, and Chef Pass areas. He has a passion for studying weather data and the resulting environmental affects on Lake Pontchartrain's recreational fishing. If you fish the lake, you will most certainly see him waiting at the boat launch to take pictures of kids and their trophies while getting fishing reports from dad.
Frank saves his summers for bouncing around offshore fishing tournaments in Venice and Grand Isles, LA doing “research” for future blog posts.
Things to come? As Fishing Editor, some of Frank's topics will include; science, gadgets, tips, kids, fishing experiences, events, and seafood. If that's not enough, Frank will conduct “FishCons” from the deck of his boat “Get The Net” where he will interview local celebrities, bait store owners, charter captains, shrimpers, and anyone who traverses the Lake Pontchartrain area waters daily. Frank's “Don's Knots” series will feature demonstrations for different knots to be used for fishing or boating. Finally, “Get the Point” will be a fictional series based on true stories to get you hooked on experiencing Sportsman's Paradise!
