AP, 2009-11-02 - New Orleans Hornets' Emeka Okafor0) shoots over New York Knicks' Jared Jeffries) (20) during the second half of an NBA basketball game Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 in New York. The Knicks won 117-111.

It didn't take long.

After the New Orleans Hornets suffered their third loss in four games, the season (according to some) is allegedly over.

Time to clean house, and get ready for the 2010 draft. Really?

Following this morning's shoot-around at the AT&T Center here in San Antonio, New Orleans Coach Byron Scott said that Emeka Okafor will play in the Hornets' season opener tonight (7 p.m. on ESPN) "for about 20 to 24 minutes." Okafor has missed the entire preseason with a toe injury.

On the eve of the start of the Hornets 2009-2010 season, I sit in my San Antonio hotel room and wonder - are the so-called experts correct? Will New Orleans be no better than they were last season?

LSU's Jacob Hester scores game-winner versus Florida in 2007.

It is Florida-LSU week and a great time to jog down memory lane.

Two years ago this week, the greatest game in the history of Tiger Stadium was played.

Sunday's Jets/Saints game is a great match. The Jets, a team that has allowed 33 points all season, a team that kept Tom Brady and the Patriots out of the end zone, takes on the league's best offense.

It would be terrific if the Saints won. New Orleans would be 4-0 heading into the bye week.

But, it is that game: after the bye, against Eli Manning and the Giants that is far more important.
