Youth was served at New Orleans Arena Thursday night. So was experience. When the twain meets, New Orleans beats a good opponent.

Rookie Darren Collison scored 11 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter while fellow rookie Marcus Thornton pumped in 19 points as the Hornets fought off Phoenix 110-103 before an enthusiastic crowd of 14,520.

A year ago, Newman captured the Division Three state soccer championship, downing University Lab 2-1 in a four overtime classic. Northlake Christian was a state quarterfinal team, a growing program. The two top-shelf teams got together Wednesday, producing an excellent match.
