While many local players, including Ali Highsmith (Arizona), Craig Steltz and Matt Forte (Chicago), Matt Flynn (Green Bay) and Jacob Hester (San Diego) all made the rosters of their respective NFL teams, many others did not survive the final cuts of NFL teams.
Here is a list of those not making the final rosters:
Atlanta Falcons-- Cut former LSU players Keith Zinger and Cameron Vaughn of Shaw High School
Baltimore Ravens--Cut former LSU defensive back Ronnie Prude
Carolina Panthers--Cut former New Orleans Saint defensive back Curtis Deloach
Cincinnati Bengals--Cut former LSU guard Nate Livings
Detroit Lions--Cut former Shaw High School wide receiver Ron Bellamy
Kansas City Chiefs--Cut former LSU linebacker E.J. Kuale
Miami Dolphins--Cut former New Orleans Saint defensive end Rob Ninkovich
New England Patriots--Cut former St. Augustine High School running back Benjarvus Green-Ellis of Ole Miss
Pittsburgh Steelers--Cut former LSU runnning back Justin Vincent and former Destrehan High School lineman Jeremy Parquet of Southern Mississippi
Tennessee Titans--Cut former Tulane and East St. John High School wide receiver Roydell Williams
In other moves, the Bengals signed defensive tackle Orien Harris on waivers from the Saints, the Dolphins signed guard Andy Alleman on waivers from the Saints, the NFL suspended former LSU running back Kevin Faulk of the Patriots for violating the league's substance abuse policy, the Giants signed former Saints kicker John Carney and the Buccaneers placed former St. Augustine High star Cortez Hankton on injured reserve.
Among the moves made, the most surprising had to be the release of Roydell Williams by Tennessee. He was the Titans' leading receiver a year ago, catching 55 passes for 719 yards and four touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Flynn beat out higher draft pick Brian Brohm for the backup quarterback position in Green Bay.
