Morten Andersen
He spent 13 years kicking for the New Orleans Saints, playing in the most games in franchise history. He was allowed  to leave via free agency in 1995, a huge mistake by the New Orleans Saints though it did not diminish his accomplishments in New Orleans.

Friday at the Best Western Landmark Hotel in Metairie, the Saints and the Saints Hall of Fame Media Selection Committee took a huge step to right a wrong, inducting Andersen into the Saints Hall of Fame Museum. Long-time Saints public address announcer Jerry Romig received the Joe Gemelli Fleur De Lis award for his over four decades spent at the microphone for the Saints.

New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton

Friday, November 6, 2009

Opening Statement:

“Here’s what he have on the injuries: Sedrick Ellis (knee) did not practice and he’s out for this game; Lance Moore (ankle) did not practice and he’s out; Kendrick Clancy (knee) did not practice and he’s out; Scott Fujita (calf) did not practice, he’s questionable; Malcolm Jenkins (ankle) was full, he’s probable; Marvin Mitchell (foot) was full, he’s probable; Jonathan Goodwin (knee) was full and he’s probable. Garrett Hartley tweaked his ankle halfway through practice so he was limited and he’d be doubtful with that.”

New Orleans Saints Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams

Has there been an emphasis on tackling this week after Monday’s game?

“We’ve talked a little bit about it. Some of the comments that I’ve heard or seen are that they’re repeating some of the things they’ve heard in the room, which is good because they’re listening to you.

METAIRIE, La. (AP) - Drew Brees sounds like a man who's embarrassed, and not because of all the compliments he's getting over the New Orleans Saints' perfect record through seven games.

The Saints' past two victories have been riddled with errors, starting with eight turnovers, six of which were committed by the quarterback with four interceptions and a pair of fumbles.

New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

Opening Statement:

“As an injury update, Scott Fujita (calf) did not practice; Sedrick Ellis (knee) did not practice; Jonathan Goodwin (knee) did not practice; Lance Moore (ankle) did not practice; Kendrick Clancy (knee) did not practice; Malcolm Jenkins (ankle) and Marvin Mitchell (foot) were limited. Danny Gorrer was signed by St. Louis off of our practice squad and then we since have signed Mark Parson, cornerback, to our practice squad. Today wasn’t so much a typical Wednesday but it was base for us, first and second down. We backed off some of the reps and took the pads off. Tomorrow we’ll be in our normal routine with third down.”

(Sports Network) - Against the Arizona Cardinals this past Sunday, the Carolina Panthers found the best way to overcome quarterback Jake Delhomme's season-long struggles.

Now it's the Saints leaving their opponents crying in their beer.

Several years ago, when the San Francisco 49ers were a perennially elite team and the New Orleans Saints, well, weren’t, I was asked about the rivalry in a television interview.

I invoked the television series “Cheers,” in which the gang at Cheers, a bar in Boston, had a rivalry with a competitor, Gary’s Old Towne Tavern. The staffs at the two bars would compete in bowling, basketball, practical jokes, all kinds of stuff.

The New Orleans Saints survived a see-saw battle, 35-27, against the rival Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football to remain perfect on the season. Now that the Saints have matched their best start in franchise history (7-0), the experts from around the sports world are buying into the idea that the 2009 version of the Saints are for real.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Saints have tied their best start to a season.

Drew Brees had 308 yards passing, Pierre Thomas scored two touchdowns and Jabari Greer returned an interception for a score to help the Saints improve to 7-0 with a 35-27 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night. Only the 1991 Saints began a season with as many wins.
