Maybe next year....It's time to break out the familiar refrain for long-suffering Saints fans. While players and coaches will continue to preach the gospel message of possibly making the playoffs, perish the thought. That is, of course, unless you are an aficionado of "new math." It's over for the 2008 New Orleans Saints following a 23-20 loss at Tampa Bay. The Saints are destined to finish last in the NFC South. That's good news for next year--it guarantees a last place schedule!

11:50 a.m. Weather may be a factor at Raymond James Stadium today....Skies are partly cloudy with a temperature of 79 degrees but there is a chance of rain, particularly in the second half. Additionally, there is a tornado watch in the Bay area until 4 p.m. Central time. The wind may figure prominently in the kicking and passing game as well with the wind blowing stiff out of the south-southwest at 22 miles per hour.

COULD ORGERON RETURN TO COLLEGE RANKS? Tennessee is in the market for a head football coach. Among the most serious of their prospective candidates is former USC assistant and recent Oakland Raiders Head Coach Lane Kiffin. A source close to the Tennessee situation says that Kiffin is one of three favorites for the job. The same source tells NewOrleans.Com Sports that should Kiffin get the Tennessee job, the first call he will make to fill his staff would be to Ed Orgeron.

METAIRIE, La. – A few hours before the Saints' kicked off against Green Bay, New Orleans defensive end Jeff Charleston wandered into coach Sean Payton's office in the Louisiana Superdome.
Charleston wasn't there to discuss the game plan. He needed directions to the trainer's room.
"It dawned on me this was the first time he'd ever been in the locker room" in the dome, Payton recalled.

New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton Wednesday, November 26, 2008 Opening Statement:
“We have four guys on the injury report: Aaron Glenn (ankle) did not practice; Mike Karney (knee) did not practice; Jeff Charleston (foot) did not practice; Reggie Bush (knee) was limited. We’ll see where Jeff’s at. He kind of aggravated it in the latter part of the game. We’ll see where he’s at tomorrow. Today was base; our normal Wednesday schedule, although it was later. Tomorrow will be nickel and we’ll be on our normal routine.”
