The Salmen Spartans are hosting the Riverdale Rebels in Slidell tonight. The second-ranked Spartans are doing so without star quarterback Daniel Sams.
The junior quarterback is not in uniform and multiple sources confirm to NewOrleans.Com/Sports and WGNO-TV, ABC 26 that Sams is no longer enrolled at Salmen High School. The same sources tell us that Sams has been dismissed from the school for an undisclosed violation.
Sams is considered a blue-chip prospect for next season. The 6'3 200 pound Sams is exploring his options about transferring to another school in the metropolitan New Orleans area.
When contacted by Ed Daniels of WGNO-TV, Salmen Coach Jerry Leonard would not confirm the move and referred all comments to the St. Tammany Parish School Board. Daniels contacted School Board spokesperson Meredith Mendez, who also refused comment on the situation.
