Brother Martin's Karl Butler commits to Vanderbilt
Brother Martin cornerback Karl Butler (6'0-182, 4.75) became
Vanderbilt's 12 commitment for the 2010 recruiting season. Butler
becomes the 2nd CB out of Louisiana to pledge for the 2010 Commodores
class joining Port Allen's Andre Hal, who committed June 18th.
Butler considered offers from Tulane, Virginia and SMU. He recorded four interceptions in 2008 and may move to safety when he arrives in the SEC.
Butler and Hal are the 2nd and 3rd Louisiana CB prospects to arrive at Vandy within the last two seasons. Evangel's Trey Wilson signed with the 'Dores in the 2009 recruiting class.
A pair of highly recruited players may be coming to a decision very soon. Capitol High School QB Terrance Broadway and John Curtis CB Jonathan McKnight appear to have favorites at this time. Although no timetable has been set, Broadway (6'1-197, 4.6 forty) looks to be headed to Mississippi State. Broadway and Edna Karr's Munchie LeGaux are the state's top rated signal callers for the 2009 season.
Broadway has a very lively arm and can make plays with his feet. He completed 64.5 percent of his passes last season for 12 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He has great leadership abilities. Sporting a 3.5 GPA, he is the top rated student in his class. At this time, La. Tech, Oregon and Nebraska may be a notch behind the Bulldogs.
Dan Mullen, State's new football coach, has had success at Bowling Green, Utah and Florida in previous stops and has done an outstanding job on the recruiting trails.
Jonathan McKnight (5'11-155, 4.6), a CB from John Curtis, accounted for 1,017 all purpose yards last fall for 6 touchdowns. McKnight had 14 catches as a receiver for 3 scores and added 37 tackles on defense with 8 interceptions. As a return specialist he averaged 19.5 yards per punt return and 27.2 yards per kickoff return.
It appears that Johnathan, the brother of USC's Joe McKnight, is a heavy lean to Alabama with the Arkansas Razorbacks trailing the Tide slightly. LSU, Ole Miss, Nebraska and Tennessee comprise his top half dozen considerations.
Amen!
