LSU closes in on Sentimore

Two different sources tell NewOrleans.Com Sports that Destrehan blue-chip defensive lineman Darrington Sentimore has decided to de-commit from Alabama to attend LSU.

As we reported first this past Friday morning, Sentimore visited LSU this past weekend. The visit went extremely well. Sentimore has told contacts close to the recruiting process that he now intends to attend LSU.

Sentimore had committed to Alabama on October 5. He visited Alabama on January 16.

LSU shied away from recruiting Sentimore initially over concerns about eligibility. While those concerns still exist, it is more likely that Sentimore will qualify now.

The 6'3, 265 pound Sentimore runs in the 4.7 range in the forty. He helped lead Destrehan to 29 consecutive victories and back-to-back 5A Louisiana state championships. He is now likely to soon be playing for a school named Louisiana State.

Hey bummas,
you can have Sentimore (schould he even qualify) & you can have lil' nicky (like his recruits, should he even decide to return to bumma-I mean he has had the luxury of being at LSU already, bumma is only a step down & away from modern day college football glory). Personally, I'll take the #1 recruiting class, a coach with INTEGRITY, & my two crystal balls & be on my merry way. Instead of worrying so much about LSU, maybe you bummers should start worrying about how lil'nicky is gonna fix the nose dive that happened at the end of the season. A team & coach, is always remembered by its last game. If the world ends tomorrow, I remember LSU & Coach Les Miles celebrating a victory (butt stomping) in a bowl game, how did that magical year end for you guys? Oh, well get used to it, lil' nicky is full of disappointment, & lies, come season's end.

G E A U X T I G E R S!!!

Dont get mad that we've got saban. If saban was the coach the year yall had russell when yall played in the Sugar bowl and destroyed Notre Dame he would have easily won the national championship...Get used to saban beating lswho every year. Miles proves that he cannot coach...and oh by the way the year yall won it all(going for it like five times on fourth down against florida and yall lucked into even getting in the championship game losing two games...haha) All ive got to say is get used to losing to us...RMFT!!!

Alabama fans how many national championships have you had in the last 5 years??? Oh yeah my thought exactly ZERO, plus you didnt even win the SEC this year...lets see we did win the SEC and took the national title! I'll take our 8-5 record this year cause facts are facts we got TWO and I have a feeling we are going to get THREE before you can get your ONE with Little Nicky! # 1 recruiting class...get used to it!

Crazycajun I will give you the same advise that someone should have given the writer of this article..... don't count your 5 stars till after signing day. As far as recruiting rankings go Bama finished last year with the #1 class by rivals and scout. We should finish strong again this year. Look forward to seeing you guys in T'town this year. ROLL TIDE

Seems as though the Bama fans are still a little upset with LSU. LSU owned them for pretty much the last decade and I would've thought that with this years win, they would have cooled off a little. Obviously not. I guess its the fact that our AS (after Saban) coach even recruits better than Saban (see all recruitment rankings). I'm guessing this is what's bothering them. BTW, Sentimore is a good recruit, but he's not in the top 15 athletes in the state of LA

What is it with these corndogs are they all habitual liers? I guess this site has the same source as that dumb ass dandy don huh? Look for Randle to be wearing a Crimson hat with a big white A on it come NSD. God I'm gonna love to see all the lswho fans cry over that as well.

Don't be shocked to see either Ruben Randel or Kenny Bell sign with the tide. Rumor has it that Bell is waiting to see where Randel ends up before making his decision. This is just the begining... next year we'll be taking 5 star qb Terrance Broadway off your hands. Mad Hatter messed up when he called BAMA out last year.

Sentimore, one of Louisiana’s premier recruits and a nationally-ranked defensive line prospect, re-affirmed his verbal commitment to Coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide on Monday following an official visit to LSU this past weekend. Destrehan Coach Steve Robicheaux confirmed Sentimore’s decision. “He’s still committed to Alabama,’’ Robicheaux said Monday afternoon. “I took him to see his mom today and they talked about it and he decided to stick with his commitment to Alabama.’’

the promises we make... sentimore got the hardsell from coach saban and little love from his state school because his ability to qualify were suspect... saban like miles would be helpless if sentimore fails the ncaa clearinghouse

sentimore wants to stay at 'home'... shouldn't an 18-year old be able to change his mind in regard to college choice - it is not like he said read my lips... I'm not going to be the coach at alabama

Give the kid a break.Everyone has the right to change their minds, even in Alabama. Before you critize an 18 yr. old, Start with Mr. Saban first.

If a kid wants to attend his state university, then graet that is where he neeeds to go. They either need to have a early signing period or teach everyone the meaning of the word committment.Best of luck to this kid

Elephantay, you're coach wrote the book on going back on your word.

Sentimore attending the school that he wants to attend is far more important than upsetting Elephantay on the internet.

You crack me up with that high and mighty BS being as you are a bama fan, where the whole football program is based on lying and cheating. How long you guys been off probation now? 2 years? Is that a record for bama?

To Elephantay, you have a coach who is not good on his word! Two things: 1. He preaches one thing about character and then does the opposite. He talks about character and sticking with it, even when it goes not the way it was planned. See cut and run in Miami! 2. He tries to steal kids from other programs but when it happens to him for some reason it's not right. Seems to me that there is a double standard there.
