Written by Ken Trahan Tuesday, 02 June 2009 13:04 The word has spread like wildfire on message boards around the south--Darrington Sentimore won't be eligible to attend Alabama in the fall and will have to start elsewhere. As ESPN analyst Lee Corso (recover well, Lee) would say, "Not so fast!"
Destrehan head football coach Steve Robicheaux tells NewOrleans.com/Sports that Sentimore is closing in on being able to qualify and attend Alabama this fall. "He needs just one more credit to be eligible at Alabama. He is in summer school right now and is doing well in that class. I fully expect he will make it," said Robicheaux.
"He's worked hard. He knows what he has to do. He's been at school working hard. We're excited for him. We think it is going to happen. Alabama has stuck by him. I just know he can play at that level (SEC). He needs to get stronger in the weight room to take on mature linemen. He has the motor and the ability to compete in the SEC," said Robicheaux.
The 6'3, 270 pound Sentimore had been recruited by Alabama throughout the 2008 season and he verbally committed to the Crimson Tide. LSU came on late and nearly lured him to Baton Rouge after a weekend visit prior to national recruiting signing day. After wavering, Sentimore stuck with his initial word and signed with Alabama.
Meanwhile, Robicheaux is getting nothing but good reports out of LSU regarding former Destrehan stars Jordan Jefferson and Tim Molton. Heading into his sophomore season, Jefferson is the starter at quarterback at LSU and has improved dramatically since arriving in Baton Rouge
"It is his job. He is the man. The LSU coaches like the way he works. He is a quiet guy by nature who leads by his actions on the field. They are excited about him.
I am not surprised. He is special! At 6'4", he can read the field well and can run. He works hard on the field and in video study off the field. He should be outstanding for LSU," noted Robicheaux.
Former Wildcat Tim Molton red-shirted a year ago. He enters his freshman season set to make an impact, expecting to play and contribute. The 6-2, 173 pound Molton is smooth and high-points the ball well in flight.
In addition, Robicheaux says he has one quality that LSU really likes. "They love his ability and willingness to run routes over the middle with no fear. They love his athletic ability. They love the way he's coming on. I fully expect him to play for the Tigers this year," said Robicheaux.

Great job darrington. Keep up the good work. Wish you will with Alabama. Also wish Jefferson & Molton the best this year. May God bless these boys to a great future. I'm happy to see Louisiana kids doing great!
