janzen_jackson.jpgLSU attempted to hire Ed Orgeron. Ultimately, the insane money Tennessee threw at him lured him to Knoxville. Always known as a master recruiter, Orgeron is making his case in Louisiana already and it could affect LSU.

Five-star defensive back Janzen Jackson, who has been verbally committed to LSU for months, will now visit Tennessee this weekend. It turns out that Orgeron is a long-time friend of Jackson's father, Lance Guidry.

mawae_titans.jpgAs a rule, NFL coaches hoard injury information like the holy grail, often not saying anything or simply embellishing the truth in an attempt to hide reality from opponents. Apparently, former LSU star Kevin Mawae didn’t get the memo.

On Sirius NFL Radio yesterday, the Titans center said that he would not play against the Ravens this Saturday afternoon in Nashville.

ron_cooper_scar.jpgThe LSU defensive staff is starting to take shape. Two new coaches will work under incoming defensive coordinator John Chavis.

Sources tell NewOrleans.Com Sports that Les Miles has agreed to terms with South Carolina defensive back coach Ron Cooper to become the new defensive backs coach at LSU, replacing Doug Mallory who is departing for New Mexico.

The other staff addition has been rumored for over a week now and will apparently come to fruition. A source close to LSU football tells NewOrleans.Com Sports that Chicago Bears defensive line coach Brick Haley is leaving the staff of Lovie Smith to join LSU in the same capacity. The Chicago Sun-Times is now reporting the same information.

It has become the rage in recent years--top high school players make their college choices at All-Star games. There are two nationally that have attracted the attention of television. Where there is national television, there are planned announcements. While many made their college choices at the Under Armour All-Star game in Orlando and at the U.S. Army All-Star game in San Antonio, LSU did not get any good news.
