http://www.neworleans.com/images/stories/sports/hometown_hero_minors.jpgThere has been plenty of movement this week for our Hometown Heroes. We start with a couple of former Tulane Green Wave stars who have shifted to different locations for very different reasons.

Former Tulane first baseman Michael Aubrey was traded to the Baltimore Orioles for a player to be named later on July 24. He will be assigned to their triple-A affiliate, the Norfolk Tides.

In the five games he's played since joining the Tides, Aubrey has gone 5-for-19, with three doubles and two RBIs.

Former Tulane first baseman Mark Hamilton was promoted from Double-A to Triple-A this week after a strong showing all season with Springfield Cardinals.

Hamilton was batting .307 in double-A ball, with eight home runs and 28 RBIs before his promotion.

He has continued his hot hitting in his three games with the Memphis Redbirds, going 5-for-11, with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Former Destrehan pitcher Beau Jones was demoted from double-A to single-A ball after struggling mightily in his last few appearances on the mound.

With the Rough Riders, Jones pitched in 23 games, compiling a 2-4 record and a 5.88 ERA.

He has already appeared in one game for his new team the, Bakersfield Blaze--joining former UNO outfielder Joey Butler--and he pitched one inning, giving up no hits, no runs, and striking out two batters.

We reported earlier this week that the Toronto Blue Jays signed former LSU first baseman Sean Ochinko and Tulane pitcher Aaron Loup, but they have yet to join any of the Blue Jays' rookie league teams.

But you can be sure that they will be included in next week's issue.
