FRISCO, TexasLamar senior Francis Kasagule and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi senior Anne Ronoh were named the Southland Conference cross country athletes of the year by vote of the league’s head coaches the conference office announced Wednesday in conjunction with the release of the all-conference teams and award winners.

Texas State earned the top seed for the 2009 Southland Conference Soccer Tournament, which gets underway Thursday at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex in Natchitoches, La. The Bobcats, which have not lost a regular-season conference match since 2007, claimed their second consecutive regular-season championship and fourth overall.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Lamar men’s team and the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women’s team won 2009 Southland Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday at West Guth Park. Lamar senior Francis Kasagule claimed the men’s individual title, while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Anne Ronoh won the women’s individual title.

FRISCO, Texas - The Southland Conference Cross Country Championships will be held Saturday at West Guth Park in Corpus Christi, Texas. The men’s 8-kilometer race will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the women’s 6-kilometer race will follow at 9:15 a.m.
