Tech's Dageford named to All-Tournament Team

HONOLULU -- Louisiana Tech junior right fielder Devon Dageford was named to the All-Tournament Team on Sunday after he batted .500 (5-for-10) with five RBI and two home runs in the NAPA Auto Parts WAC Baseball Tournament last weekend.

The native of Beatrice, Neb. also scored three times, walked once and was hit by pitch.

Dageford's first home run of the tournament was his 22nd of the season. With the long ball, he became LA Tech's single season home run king as he surpassed former Bulldogs T.J. Soto, Ed Beuerlein, Ken Shamburg and Brian Myrow.

Dageford finished the year as the Bulldogs' Triple Crown winner. He led the team with a .385 batting average, 23 home runs and 68 RBI. He also ranked first on the squad with 59 runs scored, three triples and 168 total bases. His 168 total bases is a new single season record. The feat was previously held by T.J. Soto who accumulated 161 in 57 games in 1997.
