SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Paul Millsap had 27 points and 14 rebounds to extend his NBA-leading double-double streak to 19 games and the Utah Jazz took advantage of the weary New Orleans Hornets in a 116-90 victory Wednesday night.
Millsap also had five assists to go with his latest double-double, the most by a Utah player since John Stockton had 18 in a row in 1992.
10:23 p.m. It is mercifully over in Utah--the Jazz pounded New Orleans 116-90 tonight. After leading 33-29 at the end of one quarter, New Orleans was outscored 87-57 the rest of the way. The 116 points were the most allowed by the Hornets this year. So were the 55 rebounds by the Jazz. Utah embarrassed New Orleans on the glass 55-25.
The Hornets are coming off their most successful season ever and despite some weaknesses on the bench and the occasional confounding performance, they appear capable of at least matching last season’s playoff run.
This is a fun time to be following the NBA in New Orleans, and it’s worth savoring. It’s also worth remembering the only other time that the NBA in New Orleans was this much fun.
Prior to last night's game between the Hornets and Lakers at the Staples Center, Hornets coach Byron Scott was asked if this was going to be a "statement game." Scott's response was quite interesting: "For who?" The Lakers had made a pair of statements, winning easily at New Orleans over the Hornets 93-86 on November 12 and 100-87 on December 23. They had established their superiority over the Hornets in all phases--size, depth, defense, rebounding and skill. Last night, the Hornets tried to answer. Did they ever!
LOS ANGELES (AP)—David West scored 15 of his 40 points in the fourth quarter, Chris Paul added 32 points and 15 assists, and the New Orleans Hornets beat Los Angeles 116-105 on Tuesday night to snap the Lakers’ 15-game home winning streak.
West shot 14-of-23 from the floor and 12-of-13 from the foul line in matching his career high. He also grabbed 11 rebounds as the Hornets (21-10) won for the 16th time in 21 games and avenged two losses to the Lakers in New Orleans earlier this season.

DENVER (AP) - Carmelo Anthony scored 22 points, including a layup with 56.5 seconds left, and the Denver Nuggets blew a 26-point third quarter lead before recovering to beat the New Orleans Hornets 105-100 on Saturday night.
J.R. Smith scored 11 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter for Denver.
It was the beginning of a difficult four-game, six-day West Coast road-swing to face the Blazers, Nuggets, Lakers and Jazz. All are virtually certain to be in the playoffs. All have winning records. New Orleans had lost five straight in Portland. The Blazers are a talented, deep young team.
Things looked even worse midway through the third quarter. Tyson Chandler, who still has a long way to go in the maturity department, was ejected from the game after getting into an altercation with antagonist Joel Przybilla. Ironically, the same thing happened last year in Portland, resulting in a Hornets' loss. At the time it occurred last night, the Blazers led 54-51. They would quickly extend it to 58-51.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP)-David West had 25 points, Chris Paul added 17 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds and the New Hornets Orleans beat the Portland Trail Blazers 92-77 on Friday night for their fourth straight victory.
West and Paul teamed to lead a New Orleans rally, with the Hornets outscoring Portland 41-19 in the final 15 minutes. James Posey had 15 points and nine rebounds, and Peja Stojakovic added 14 points for the Hornets.
