Mourners Gather For Gov. Treen Memorial
Mourners gathered at the Louisiana State Capitol to remember former Gov. Dave Treen, who died last week at the age of 81.

A funeral procession brought Treen's casket to the Capitol, where he was honored with a memorial service in the ornate, marbled Memorial Hall. About 300 family members, politicians, elected officials and former elected officials packed the seats.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and three of the state's former governors were also in attendance Monday.

Treen was Louisiana's first Republican governor since Reconstruction. He held the job for one term from 1980 to 1984 and also served in Congress. He was remembered Monday as a humble and honorable public servant.
