Two businesses operated by 28-year-old New Orleans entrepreneur, Percy Marchand, are now closed due to extensive damage caused by an overnight 2 alarm fire.

Renaissance Hall, his latest business venture which opened at the end of June, received extensive damage while his neighboring operation, Marchand Ink Design and Printing Company, received significant water and smoke damage. Marchand was in the building at the time of the fire, but was not harmed.

The fire was caused by a downed Entergy Mainline which sent a charge through the building setting the fire and causing outages across the Gentilly neighborhood.

After evacuating to Houston, Marchand returned to New Orleans to rebuild the printing company destroyed by Hurricane Katrina's flood waters. The printing company was one of the first operations to return to the Gentilly neighborhood and was the only print and copy center serving New Orleans East to Downtown.
