Description

Leave the city crowds and sights behind and visit a crown jewel of the scenic River Road plantations on the Houmas House Plantation Tour. Originally owned by indigenous Houmas Indians, the plantation has a long and storied history as an antebellum "sugar palace." During the intimate, one-hour journey to Houmas House, you will view a short film detailing the history of the property, and then tour the plantation with a trained guide. This tour also allows visitors the unique opportunity to roam the grounds of this historic beauty and take in the surroundings at your own pace. Sip a refreshing mint Julep from the Turtle Bar, stroll the gardens, and enjoy the breeze rolling off of the Mississippi through the shadows of ancient oaks. Or, tuck into a lunch of local favorites-from fresh salads to oyster po-boys to filet mignon-at Cafe' Burnside.
