Hotel Provincial in the French Quarter is a classic New Orleans hotel – one with a grand history and an ideal location in a residential, quiet section of the French Quarter. Family-owned since 1961, Hotel Provincial features lovely, restored historic buildings and courtyards that hint at this French Quarter hotel's storied past. (Hotel Provincial is a favorite setting for destination weddings in New Orleans and other celebratory vacations in the French Quarter.) The land on which Hotel Provincial was built was granted by King Louis XV of France in 1725 to the lieutenant who served the founder of the city, Jean Baptiste LaMoyne, Sieur de Bienville. Over time, other prominent New Orleanians laid claim to parts of the land and its various buildings, with the property serving as an 18th century military hospital (from which ghostly myths abound), a townhouse and slave quarters, a Creole home and business, and even an ice and seed company.
The 93 guest rooms and suites in Hotel Provincial are furnished in southern antiques and period reproduction pieces as befits this historic property.
