The Hotel Mazarin in the French Quarter recently unveiled a completely transformed property accented in gold leaf, rich woods and a fresh, luxurious décor that reflects the art de vivre that makes New Orleans such an enchanting city.
As a French Quarter hotel, Hotel Mazarin offers immediate access to the sights and sounds that draw hundreds of thousands of travelers to New Orleans every year. Bourbon Street is only a half-block away, and the top New Orleans landmarks and attractions are all within a seven-block radius of Hotel Mazarin, including Jackson Square and The French Market. The Royal Street shopping district and countless great New Orleans restaurants (Galatoire’s, GW Fins, Green Goddess, The Rib Room) are also nearby.
Formerly the Saint Louis Hotel, the Hotel Mazarin’s new name and look are a nod to a famous 17th century Italian-born Renaissance man who collected jewels and designed the Mazarin Diamond. The extensive renovation at Hotel Mazarin included upgrading all guestrooms and public spaces to reflect the owner's personality and sensibilities. Expect luxury amenities big and small, from supremely comfortable beds and "Michelangelo" black tile and granite finishes to Egyptian waffle cotton robes, slippers and top of the line Parisian-inspired toiletries.
Complimentary amenities include: Wi-Fi, breakfast, and local phone calls; in-room coffee, bottled water, newspaper, robe and slippers, safe, and cube coolers; and a welcome refreshment upon arrival. In addition, hotel guests can enjoy the lush, serene courtyard with its Renaissance-inspired fountain, a fitness center and a business center. In-room spa services are also available.
At the hotel's Louis XVI Restaurant, the talented French chef Agnes Bellet oversees small receptions, weddings and meetings of up to 60. Smaller dining groups can reserve the restaurant's six-course "Table D'hôte" dinner menu. The restaurant is also open for breakfast and offers a menu that ranges from Continental basics to New Orleans classics like Eggs Benedict, Eggs Sardou, and Bananas Foster.
The hotel bar, Patrick's Bar Vin, has already become a French Quarter destination for vinophiles. Proprietor Patrick van Hoorebeek, a longtime European transplant to the city, has curated a wide selection of wines and champagne by the glass, light and savory small plates, and mixed drinks in the bar's comfortable, upscale environs.
