New Orleans is home to one of the most unique Greek heritage festivals in the country- Greece on the Bayou. Every Memorial Day Weekend for 39 years, the New Orleans Greek Festival has celebrated culture and heritage with thousands of New Orleanians.

At this year's festival, there will be traditional Greek music and dancing, as well as classic food dishes. Expect to see plenty of gyros, souvlaki and baklava. For the kids, the festival will feature the "Athenian Playground" which consists of "Mount Olympus," face painting, "Hercules Hammer," and a moon bounce.

There will also be cathedral tours, Hellenic dancers, and live Greek music, an Olympic Run/Walk race, Toga Sunday and many more.

The easiest way to keep up with all the events happening in the Big Easy is to regularly check the NewOrleans.com calendar.
