Description

The State Farm Bayou Classic has been a Thanksgiving weekend staple on the New Orleans sports scene since the 1970s. The annual football showdown between Grambling State and Southern University, the only two football-playing Historically Black Colleges and Universities in Louisiana, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome is just one part of the weekend's activities. The weekend kicks off with the Friday night "Battle of the Bands," a showdown between the Grambling band and Southern's "Human Jukebox." Other activities include a Greek Show, job fair, parties, seminars, exhibits and community service events. And we didn't even mention the always-great halftime show, with one more performance by the bands!
