NEW ORLEANS | Industrial rock fans were in for a treat this past weekend at House of Blues. After KMFDM's knockout performance in HOB's main hall Saturday night, The Parish played host to the Revolting Cocks' "LubricaTour" on Sunday. With Ringmaster Jim Rose playing emcee for the evening, the show kicked off with an energetic and somewhat playful performance from Vancouver cyberpunks Left Spine Down.
Frontman Kaine Delay spent a good portion of the set running around in the still-small crowd and ordering shots at the bar. LSD were followed up by the raunchy, tongue-in-cheek metal crunch of California's Blownload, performing unrepentantly lowbrow songs such as "Keep Sex Evil" and "Legalize It" while cracking jokes and generally playing to the crowd.

Next up was a brief intermission featuring Jim Rose, who punished various members of the opening acts (for their drunkenness the night before) by having them perform various stunts. Left Spine Down's keyboardist became a human dartboard. Their guitarist smashed his own hand with a can of soup and the drummer put his hand in a cartoon-style rat trap. The poor drummmer from Blownload had it worst, though. He had a cinderblock rested against his testicles before Ringmaster Rose took a sledgehammer to the sensitive area.
Rose finished his performance by placing razors into his own mouth and then removing them, having strung them onto a length of fishing line using only his tongue. Finally, it was time for headliners RevCo. The group's lineup may have been something of a disappointment to older fans, with founding father Al Jourgensen absent, and many of the more legendary former members (most notably ex-Ministry personnel Paul Barker and vocalist Chris Connelly) nowhere to be seen.
Fronted by Stayte's Josh Bradford and featuring members from Ministry's more recent live band, this RevCo may not have the name recognition of the original lineup, but the fans didn't seem to care as the grinding EBM/industrial-rock fusion commenced. The band smashed their way through a set of both new and old songs, with Bradford's energetic antics and irreverent stage patter keeping the show moving between tracks. Guitarist Sin Quirin was in top form as always, shredding and soloing as large-afroed bassist Murv Douglas covered the bottom end in a manner as funky as his hairstyle.
After a blistering 11-song set culminating in the bizarre classic rock cut-up of "Purple Head," the band performed a 3-song encore, closing the night with their hard-driving cover of Rod Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?"
RevCo will be continuing its trek through the southern U.S. over the next few weeks, with special appearances by Al Jourgensen throughout the tour.
