Show Reviews
When I got the news that Luther Dickinson would be playing with James Singleton and Johnny Vidacovich, I was ecstatic. The collaboration of these three musical geniuses was unlike anything I have ever seen or heard. The beginning of the first set consisted of well calculated, spacey, slowed down jazz, fused with raw, ear pleasing Southern rock. A musical journey is the only way I can describe this night of funky, jazzy bliss.
Two trombone players, Big Sam and Craig Kline sat in for the second set, and that brought a whole new musical dynamic to the stage. Having a rock star such as Luther Dickinson playing in a venue like the Maple Leaf was a treat to say the least. The crowd was dancing and singing along the entire night.
I have to say the only disappointment I encountered this evening was when the band stopped playing. Everyone who attended this show should realize how lucky they are, because I have a strong feeling these five musicians will never be on the same stage again. I am honored that I was a part of this musically historic night.
