St. Tammany Parish Libraries now offer books, magazines, audio cassettes, compact discs, video tapes, programs for all ages, exhibits, Internet access, online databases and service to nursing homes. With circulation in 2001 totalling 1,012,841 items, we know that St. Tammany Parish citizens enjoy and use their library.

Adult literacy materials, programs and tutoring for the non-reader are provided through Upgrade Tangipahoa. The libraries serve as active partners providing office space, tutoring locations and information. Tax materials are provided for all patrons. Senior citizens use the library for preparation of taxes. Libraries serve as meeting sites for local non-profit organizations.

The Jefferson Parish Library is a service institution dedicated to providing the highest quality services to meet the informational, cultural, educational, and recreational needs of the community.To accomplish this mission, the Library System will acquire, organize, and provide access to materials that reflect all points of view. The Library System will take a proactive position by interacting with the community to develop resources, policies, and professional services in response to changing needs. In doing so, the Library System will act as a responsible steward of the resources made available by and will ensure accountability to the citizens of Jefferson Parish.
