Bulldogs and Trojans tip-off at 7 p.m.
RUSTON, La. – Off to its best start since the 2001-02 season, Louisiana Tech will look to improve on its 3-1 mark as it hosts UALR in its home opener on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
LA Tech is 51-12 all-time in home openers since 1945.
Louisiana Tech is coming off a 2-1 performance at the World Vision Classic in Albuquerque, N.M. They had wins over Miami (Ohio) and Nicholls State and fell to the host school, New Mexico. The most recent win over Nicholls State came as the Bulldogs used an 18-0 run to outscore the Colonels 48-24 in the second half and win 81-52.
The Trojans enter the contest with a 1-3 record, but the three losses have been challenging road games at Ole Miss, Tulsa and Creighton. They are led by 6-0 guard Solomon Bozeman who is averaging 15.3 points per game.
The Bulldogs are led by senior Kyle Gibson who is averaging 18 points per game. Sophomore Olu Ashaolu has four double-doubles this season and is tied for ninth in the NCAA in rebounds per game with 12. Senior Jamel Guyton is tied for 25th in the NCAA in three-point shooting at 50 percent.
It is the third consecutive year that the Bulldogs have faced the Trojans. Last season, the Trojans won a 78-69 game early in the season in Little Rock.

Series History
This marks the third time in the last three seasons that UALR and LA Tech have met. The Trojans have won the last two games, both in Little Rock. The Bulldogs, however, won the previous seven games (1998-2001) while a member of the Sun Belt Conference. Tech has won the last five meetings at home.
Gibson on All-WVC Team
Kyle Gibson averaged 18.7 points per game over the three-game World Vision Classic and was named to the All-Tournament team. He had a game-high 27 points and added eight rebounds in the Bulldogs win over Miami (Ohio).
