Randall Mackey leads East Mississippi past Gulf Coast in wild shootout

Last week, East Mississippi played Mississippi Gulf Coast for the Mississippi Junior College state championship.

Gulf Coast had 608 total yards of offense. The Bulldogs quarterback Greg Jenkins threw for 332 yards and 5 touchdowns. MGCC running back Vick Ballard, the nation's leading rusher, ran for 194 yards and scored four touchdowns. Bulldog wide receiver Kelvin Bolden had 236 yards in receptions and three touchdowns.

However, Mississippi Gulf Coast lost 75-71. In regulation time. No overtime.

East Mississippi had a quarterback ywith whom Louisiana football fans are familiar. Randall Mackey, fromer Bastrop High School Parade All American and the MACJC 2009 Player of the Year, threw for 494 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had 123 yards rushing.

Mackey, who orginally commited to Ole Miss out of high school, has re-commited to the Rebels. At Ole Miss, Mackey is expected to run "The Wild Rebel" part of the offense.
